Bodies of 8 victims handed over to families: ISPR
The bodies of eight victims from the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara have been handed over to their families, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 22 after two more injured individuals succumbed to their injuries at the burn institute overnight.

Bodies to be released promptly: CA Press Wing
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing stated in a Monday night press release that the bodies of identified victims from the crash at Milestone School in Diabari would be “handed over to their families as soon as possible.”

The release noted that for victims whose identities cannot be immediately confirmed, “DNA testing will be conducted before transferring the remains to their families.”

It added that the chief adviser is continuously monitoring the treatment of the injured and urged the public to “avoid unnecessary crowding near hospitals to ensure uninterrupted medical services.”

Two more pass away
Mahreen Chowdhury, a coordinator at Milestone, and student Abdullah Shameem have succumbed to their injuries, raising the total number of death in the fatal Jet crash at Milestone College to 22.

According to witnesses, Mahreen tried to get as many students out from the crash site as possible but ended up suffering 100% burn injuries, eventually leading to her death.

Patients admitted across seven hospitals, 17 confirmed dead
The majority of patients have been admitted to the National Burn Institute Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH), with a current total of 44 patients under treatment. Nine individuals have died after being brought to hospitals, including one out of four patients transferred to Dhaka Medical College.

At CMH, 12 have succumbed to their injuries, while 25 remain under medical care. The overall admission count stands at 88, with 17 fatalities confirmed so far.

Medical facilities, including blood supplies, doctors, and equipment, are fully prepared. Nine patients are currently on ventilators in the ICU, with additional ventilators available at Dhaka Medical College and other hospitals if needed.

While current blood supplies are sufficient, donations will be required starting tomorrow at Dhaka Medical College and the National Burn Institute. Blood collection will be managed through the Blood Transfusion Unit.

At CMH, where the most critical patients are being treated, infection rates remain relatively low. Authorities urge the public and media to avoid entering the hospital premises, as unnecessary crowding could lead to infections and further fatalities.

Hospital staff, including doctors and nurses, are working tirelessly. The public is requested to cooperate and allow medical teams to focus on providing proper treatment, especially for the children affected.

Grief and gloom grip DMCH
Following the tragic Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash in Dhaka’s Uttara, heartbroken relatives have gathered outside the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), desperately waiting for updates on their loved ones.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), around 70 people injured in the accident have so far been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

At the hospital, a constant stream of patients is arriving in ambulances. After receiving first aid in the emergency department, they are being transferred to the wards. The area is overcrowded, and medical staff are struggling to manage the high volume of patients while continuing urgent treatment.

Jamaat offers round-the-clock support to injured
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Monday said that his party is on standby for 24 hours to support the treatment of those injured in the Uttara plane crash.

“We found 51 injured here. Except for seven or eight, the condition of most victims is critical,” he said while talking to reporters after visiting the victims receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Jamaat has assured hospital authorities of full support, he said.

Mentioning that Islami Chhatra Shibir is also active on the ground, the Jamaat leader said all party-affiliated healthcare professionals have been mobilised and are ready to assist in every way possible.

Tarique asks BNP to stand by victims
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic crash, saying in a Facebook post: “We are heartbroken by the tragic aircraft crash at Milestone College. No student should face such horror in institutions meant to facilitate their learning, growth and well-being. My earnest prayers are with the shaken young souls, and I call upon leaders, activists and professionals of the BNP to stand by the affected. Together, as a united nation, we must tackle this situation.”

Tarique Rahman also demanded a proper and thorough investigation into the aircraft crash.

NCP postpones rallies
The National Citizen Party (NCP) postponed its scheduled rallies in Feni, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur in the wake of the Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash in the Uttara area of Dhaka.

“Our central leaders had left for Feni after the march in Khagrachari. Many leaders and activists had already gathered at the Feni venue as per the pre-scheduled programme,” NCP central committee member Ehsanul Mahbub Jobair said. “”However, given the current situation, it is not appropriate to hold any political event.”

He further said that the party’s central leaders have already departed for Dhaka, adding that tomorrow’s programmes in Noakhali and Lakshmipur districts have also been postponed.

UN, EU express condolences
The United Nations and the European Union have expressed deep condolences following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft at Milestone School and College in Uttara, which left at least 20 people dead and 171 injured.

In a statement issued on Monday, the UN Mission in Bangladesh said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of lives, including several children, and the injuries sustained by many others.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and friends,” the statement read. It also wished a speedy recovery to those injured on this tragic day.

The UN added that it would join the one-day state mourning declared by the interim government for Tuesday and offered its support to the government in response to this national emergency.

Meanwhile, the EU Delegation in Bangladesh also expressed condolences in a message on Monday, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the crash of the F-7 training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force at Milestone School and College. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this devastating incident.”

Govt to ensure free treatment for all injured in plane crash
The government will cover all medical expenses for those injured in tragic Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash at the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, instructions have been sent to all relevant authorities to ensure free treatment for patients admitted to the private hospitals.
In cases where private hospitals are unable to provide necessary care, patients are to be transferred immediately to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery or Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the ministry said.
The directive was issued on the instruction of the Adviser, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as confirmed by Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Senior Information Officer of the ministry.

16 rescuers injured
A total of 16 rescue personnel — including 14 members of the Bangladesh Army, one police officer, and one firefighter — were injured during rescue operations following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training jet at Milestone School and College in the Diabari area of the capital on Monday.

All of the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Army.

At least 20 people, mostly children, have been killed and 171 others were injured in the fatal Air Force jet crash into the Milestone School and College building in Diabari, Uttara, Dhaka.

An ISPR press release confirmed the death toll and the number of injuries.

Earlier report said, at least 19 people were killed and 164 more injured after the incident.

Most of the victims were eighth-grade students of the school.

Brigadier General Mohammad Zahid Kamal, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said at a press briefing in the afternoon that they had recovered 19 bodies from the scene.

The injured, many of whom are in critical condition, are being treated at National Burn Institute and in other hospitals in the capital.

The government has declared a one-day state mourning day following the crash of Air Force aircraft at Milestone College in Dhaka’s Uttara.

The mourning day will be observed tomorrow (Tuesday). Following this, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, and educational establishments across the country.

Additionally, flags will be lowered at all government and private buildings, as well as at Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Special prayers will be held in all religious places of worship throughout the country for the injured and deceased.

It is reported that the pilot of the training aircraft was Squadron Leader Taukir. Before the crash, he was unable to eject from the plane automatically. Officials initially suspect the accident was caused by a mechanical failure. The aircraft crashed within 12 minutes of takeoff. So far, no agency has been able to confirm the pilot’s latest status.

Identifiable bodies to be handed over; DNA tests for others
With regards to those who had lost their lives in Monday’s aircraft crash in Uttara, authorities will soon hand over the bodies which are easily identifiable to their families, while DNA tests will be conducted for the others, according to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

“The bodies of those who can be identified among the death victims of the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash on the Milestone School and College compound in the capital’s Diabari area will be handed over to their families immediately,” the CA’s Press Wing said. “The bodies of those who cannot be identified right away will be handed over to their families following the confirmation of their identification through DNA tests.”

It also said that Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is closely monitoring the treatment of those injured in the tragic incident.

For the sake of ensuring uninterrupted medical care, general people have been requested not to crowd hospital areas unnecessarily.

Earlier, a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into the Milestone School and College campus at around 1:18pm on Monday, leaving at least 19 people dead and many others injured.

The government has announced that Tuesday would be observed as a day of national mourning following the tragic air crash.

Mechanical failure caused aircraft crash: ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced in an evening press release that the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in Uttara due to a mechanical failure. The Air Force has formed a high-level investigation committee to probe the incident.

In a statement titled “Bangladesh Air Force Fighter Aircraft Crashes in Sudden Accident,” ISPR said the FT-7 BGI fighter aircraft took off at 1:06 PM on Monday from the Bangladesh Air Force base at Kurmitola, Dhaka, as part of a routine training mission when it encountered a mechanical fault.

The statement said, “In an effort to manage the accident and prevent large-scale damage, the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md. Taukir Islam, tried his best to steer the aircraft away from densely populated areas toward a less crowded zone. Unfortunately, the aircraft crashed into a two-story building of Milestone School and College in Diabari, Dhaka.”

The sudden crash resulted in 19 fatalities, including the pilot, and 164 injuries. All the injured were quickly transported by Air Force helicopters and ambulances to Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The ISPR statement added, “The Bangladesh Air Force is deeply saddened by this unfortunate accident and is actively providing all necessary medical care and support to the victims. As the Air Force Chief is currently abroad on an official visit, the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Administration), senior Air Force officers, and rescue teams are present at the crash site. The Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, military officials, and senior government representatives were also present.”

“The Army, Air Force, Police, RAB, and Fire Service are continuing rescue operations at the site and doing their utmost to restore the situation.”

The statement concluded, “A high-level investigation committee of the Air Force has already been formed to determine the cause of the accident.”

An emergency hotline number has been launched at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery following the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College campus in Uttara on Monday.

The hotline number is 01949043697. People can contact this number to get information about the burn victims and casualties at the burn institute.

The government has also provided a set of emergency contact numbers to help locate missing students following the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft crash at Milestone College in Uttara on Monday.

The following numbers have been activated for families and guardians: Military Rescue Brigade, 01769024202; CMH Burn Unit, 01769016019; CMH Emergency, 01769013311, Milestone School Admin Officer, 01814774132; and Milestone School Vice Principal, 01771111766.

In addition, the National Emergency Number 999 will connect callers directly to the burn units through the emergency national helpline (999).

Eyewitnesses say that fire services, the air force, the army, and other rescue teams are working at the crash site.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the accident around noon and stated in a press release that the aircraft which crashed in Uttara was an F-7 BG1 model training plane.

The release mentioned that the plane took off at 1:06 PM.

Earlier, Lima Khanom, the duty officer at the fire service control room, said the plane crashed at 1:18 PM near Milestone School and College in Uttara.
