Salman Khan’s long-delayed war drama ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’ has cleared a key hurdle, with its trailer receiving certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The makers are now preparing to unveil it ahead of Diwali.

According to NDTV, the trailer is expected to arrive on Friday, 6 November, with a launch event reportedly planned in Mumbai.

The CBFC has awarded it a U/A 16+ certificate. The trailer runs for four minutes and 43 seconds, making it one of the longest previews for a Hindi film.

The certification marks a significant step forward for the project, which has faced repeated delays and uncertainty over its release.

However, the film itself has not yet received its final censor certificate, and the makers have not confirmed a theatrical date.

Earlier announced as ‘Battle of Galwan’, the film draws inspiration from the June 2020 confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh.

The clash claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers and became one of the most serious military confrontations between the two countries in decades.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films, the film stars Salman as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who led Indian troops during the confrontation.

Chitrangda Singh also plays a prominent role, alongside Prashant Tamang, Ankur Bhatia and Abhilash Chaudhary.

The project was initially scheduled to reach cinemas in April 2026 but faced delays amid scrutiny over its sensitive subject and references to China. The makers subsequently changed its title and reportedly revised parts of the story.

The trailer’s clearance has renewed speculation about the film’s release plans. While an earlier report suggested a 13 November release, a subsequent report by Bollywood Hungama said the team was considering 20 November or 11 December instead. No date has been officially announced.

Salman recently released ‘Teri Sexy Beauty’, a romantic track featuring Chitrangda, marking his return to playback singing after 11 years. The film’s soundtrack also includes the patriotic number ‘Jai Hind’.
