The Dhaka Electric Supply PLC (Desco) has advised prepaid electricity meter users to maintain sufficient balance in advance as recharge services may be disrupted for 24 hours due to a system upgrade.

In an emergency notice issued on Wednesday morning, Desco said recharge services could remain temporarily suspended or disrupted from 10pm on Thursday to 10pm on Friday.

The disruption may affect only customers whose prepaid meter numbers start with 03, according to the notice.

Desco urged these customers to recharge their meters before the scheduled upgrade to avoid inconvenience and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the period.

Customers have been advised to contact Desco’s helplines at 16120 or 16999 for assistance with recharge-related problems or other queries.

The power distribution company also apologised for the temporary inconvenience caused by the system upgrade.
