More than three decades after making her film debut, Moushumi continues to be remembered for the role that first introduced her to audiences. Her appearance in the 1993 film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ alongside Salman Shah launched a career that would make her one of the most recognisable actresses in Bangladeshi cinema.

With more than 200 films to her credit and three National Film Awards, Moushumi celebrates her birthday today, reflecting on the audience’s affection that has remained with her since her first appearance on the big screen.

Her debut also began a memorable on-screen partnership with Salman Shah. The two later reunited in films such as ‘Denmohor’, ‘Ontore Ontore’ and ‘Sneho’, building a chemistry that remains fondly remembered by filmgoers.

Moushumi’s personal and professional journey also became intertwined with actor Omar Sani. They first met while working on ‘Dola’, and their professional association eventually developed into a relationship.

The two later married and appeared together in films including ‘Prothom Prem’, ‘Atto Ohongkar’, ‘Priyo Tumi’, ‘Sneher Bondhon’ and ‘Shukher Shorgo’.

On her birthday, Omar Sani shared a heartfelt message for his wife on social media. “May you always remain the crown jewel of our family. May the Almighty keep you healthy,” he wrote.

Another significant chapter in Moushumi’s career came through her collaborations with the late Manna. Their pairing attracted considerable audience interest, particularly with ‘Ammajan’, which went on to set box-office records. They also appeared together in ‘Loot Toraj’, ‘Koshto’, ‘Minister’ and ‘Itihash’.

Her performance in ‘Matritto’, featuring Humayun Faridee, brought her further acclaim. Over the years, she has worked with many of the country’s leading actors, including Amin Khan, Ferdous, Riaz, Shakil Khan, Amit Hasan, Rubel and Shakib Khan.

Amin Khan, who shared the screen with Moushumi in films such as ‘Aj Gaye Holud’, ‘Lal Doriya’, ‘Stree Keno Shotru’, ‘Streer Morjada’ and ‘Ammajan’, praised her professionalism and enduring popularity.

“There is no comparison to Moushumi. She won the hearts of millions with her very first film, and not everyone is fortunate enough to achieve that. She has since worked in numerous films. She is a thoroughly professional artiste,” he says.

Although Moushumi has worked with Shakib Khan only a few times, their collaborations include ‘Tui Jodi Amar Hoitire’ and ‘Devdas’.

Beyond cinema, Moushumi has also appeared in television productions, sharing the screen with popular actor Zahid Hasan. Their work together includes the film ‘Projapoti’ and several television dramas.

She also worked with Mahfuz Ahmed in television dramas including ‘Khela Bhangar Khela’, ‘Hoyto Acho Tobuo Nei’, ‘Digonte Digholi’ and ‘Aham’. Mahfuz praised her screen presence, performances and personality.
