The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 19-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Rising Stars Asia Cup, with experienced batter Sabbir Rahman securing a spot in the side alongside several players with national team experience.
The Rising Stars Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on 19 November in Qatar. Bangladesh ‘A’ have been placed in Group A alongside Sri Lanka ‘A’, Afghanistan ‘A’, and Hong Kong.
Sabbir Rahman, who last represented Bangladesh in international cricket in 2022, makes a notable inclusion in the squad. Despite being 34 years old and playing domestic cricket less frequently in recent seasons, the experienced batter has been handed an opportunity in the squad alongside emerging talents.
The preliminary squad also features regular domestic performers and national team players, including Naim Sheikh, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Mohammad Parvez Hossain Emon, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Jaker Ali.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled to take place on 26 and 27 November.
