Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan thanked fans for their birthday wishes with a handwritten note at his Mumbai residence, Mannat, on Monday, while large projections promoting his upcoming film ‘King’ transformed the property’s exterior.

According to Hindustan Times, the actor, who turned 61, did not appear on Mannat’s balcony to greet fans in person, breaking a tradition that has drawn crowds to his residence on previous birthdays. However, fans still gathered outside the Bandra bungalow at midnight, where they saw visuals from his upcoming film and a message of gratitude from the star.

A billboard at Mannat displayed Shah Rukh’s handwritten note: “Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all.” He signed it with the words “lots of love and a big hug”.

The birthday celebrations also served as a promotional campaign for ‘King’, which Shah Rukh is producing through his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment.

On Sunday, Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link also lit up with birthday greetings and images of the actor ahead of his special day.
