From the morning, workers staged protests and blocked roads in Konabari, Chandra, Mouchak, Safipur and Polli Bidyut areas, causing severe traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway. Police fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse protesters and restore order.
