The government has altered the method of displaying registration numbers on the front number plates of motorcycles.

Under the updated provision, alongside the existing conventional method, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) can now grant permission to write registration numbers in a single horizontal line.

In addition, the authority has been empowered to fix the size of front number plates and the dimensions of various characters according to the design of motorcycle.

Under the amended rules, the BRTA can permit displaying the front registration mark on retro-reflective plates of various dimensions according to the motorcycle’s design.

As required, the authority can specify the height of letters on the front plate, the height of letters indicating the district or region name, the height of letters denoting the vehicle class, and the amount of blank space at the top of the plate.

The BRTA can also determine the space between two numbers on the plate, the length of the hyphen between second-line numbers, and the length of the hyphen following the district or region name and vehicle class characters when writing the registration number on a single line.
