Police Headquarters has requested updated information on criminal cases and departmental disciplinary matters concerning 357 officers of the 30th and 31st BCS Police cadres.

A directive issued on Sunday by the Crime Analysis branch of Police Headquarters instructed various police units across the country to submit the updated records by 3 November in both hard copy and soft copy.

The list includes 179 officers from the 30th BCS batch and 178 officers from the 31st BCS batch. The letter directs recipient units to report whether any criminal cases exist against the listed officers and, if so, to provide their current status and latest updates.

Signed by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Crime Analysis Mohammad Saifullah, the letter was sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner, the additional inspector general of Railway Police, DIGs of various ranges, and metropolitan police commissioners.

This follows an earlier urgent directive issued on Thursday by the Personnel Management-1 branch of Police Headquarters, which also instructed units to submit details regarding departmental disciplinary allegations and criminal cases against the officers concerned. Following that initial step, the Crime Analysis branch has now requested information from the various units.

All listed officers hold the rank of additional superintendent of Police or additional deputy commissioner. They are currently serving across various units, including Police Headquarters, DMP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Armed Police Battalion (APBn), various Range and District Police, Highway Police, Industrial Police, and In-Service Training Centres.

The document also notes the special status of a few officers alongside their current postings, indicating that one officer is temporarily suspended while another is serving on deputation at the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

However, the letter does not state that all 357 listed officers face criminal cases. Rather, concerned units have been directed to verify whether cases exist and submit a report on their latest status if any.

When asked about the directive, AIG Md Saifullah said that the letter was issued with no other motive than to update official records regarding whether cases exist against police officers.
