A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Disha, a female friend of former Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, on a four-day remand in connection with his death.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order.
Investigating officer, Firoz Uddin, produced her before the court and sought seven days for questioning.
Disha was brought to court at 3:50 pm, and the magistrate took the bench three minutes later. During the hearing, the judge asked her to state her name and her father’s name.
State prosecutor Mohammad Shamsuddoha Sumon told the court that Disha had been identified as a suspect during the investigation.
He argued that custodial interrogation was necessary to establish the circumstances surrounding Tahsif’s death, determine whether he had been murdered and identify anyone else potentially involved.
The defence opposed the remand request and sought bail, arguing that Disha had been arrested on the basis of closed-circuit television footage despite having no involvement in the incident.
Her lawyer also argued that investigators had failed to obtain any relevant information from another suspect previously taken on remand.
According to the defence, Tahsif dropped Disha off at her home around midnight, after which she had no knowledge of his whereabouts or subsequent events.
The lawyer maintained that Disha was a student and that neither the CCTV footage nor other available evidence established her involvement in any crime.
After hearing both sides, the court granted a four-day remand.
