The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University of Chittagong will hold a roundtable on 4 November to strengthen ties between businesses and academia, with a focus on skills, research and solving industry problems.
The discussion at the World Trade Center in Agrabad will examine how universities can better align teaching and research with industry needs, expand internships and employment opportunities and support joint research and technology development.
It will also explore ways businesses can use academic expertise to address operational and technological challenges, the port city chamber said on Saturday.
Chittagong Chamber President Mohammed Amirul Haque will chair the session, while University Grants Commission member Professor Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun will attend as chief guest.
University of Chittagong Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Al-Forkan and former Chittagong Chamber president and Chattogram Port Users Forum Chairman Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury will present keynote papers.
University of Chittagong Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Professor Dr Mohammed Al-Amin and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Administration Professor Dr Md Safiqul Islam will attend as special guests.
The organisers said closer industry-academia cooperation could help produce more job-ready graduates, strengthen innovation and support industrialisation, investment and productivity in the Chattogram region.
