The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has fixed the medical tests fee at Taka 8,000 per person for Bangladeshi workers seeking employment in Malaysia, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.
But, no additional charges may be levied beyond the prescribed medical examination fee fixed by the ministry, it said adding that workers are advised not to pay more than Taka 8,000 to this end.
The workers have also been cautioned against dealing with any brokers or middlemen regarding the medical examination.
It further clarified that no medical center shall operate under the exclusive control of any specific recruiting agency. Workers selected for employment in Malaysia may undergo their health check-ups at any authorized medical center.
If a worker decides to process their employment through a different agency after having received a medical slip from an initial agency, the latter must promptly forward the medical report to the new agency.
In such cases, the agency that originally issued the slip shall not offer any excuses or raise any objections.
Should any medical center demand fees in excess of the prescribed amount, engage in harassment, or create unnecessary delays, the ministry requested that such incidents be reported immediately via email to: [email protected].
The notification also clarified that no fee is required for a ‘MyGRAMS’ slip.
Additionally, the ministry will regularly monitor the operations of these medical centers. Strict legal action will be taken against the medical center found to be involved in any irregularities or discrepancies.
The ministry has urged all workers bound for Malaysia, as well as recruiting agencies and medical centers, to strictly adhere to these directives, the notification added.
