Bollywood stars Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan have stepped into the disturbing world of horror film ‘Obsession’, recreating one of its most unsettling scenes ahead of the Hindi version’s streaming debut, writes Hindustan Times.
In a video shared on social media, the actors recreate a tense restaurant scene from the film alongside director Amar Kaushik.
Kriti takes on the unsettling mannerisms of Nikki, originally played by Inde Navarrette, while Varun portrays Bear, the character played by Michael Johnston.
The scene captures Nikki presenting Bear with a piece of jewellery before he tells her they should break up.
Her reaction quickly turns intense as she demands to know why he does not love her and pushes him to reconsider his decision.
The video has drawn enthusiastic responses from viewers, with several praising Kriti’s expressions and voice modulation. Others welcomed the casting, saying she appeared well suited to the character.
Kriti and Varun are lending their voices to Nikki and Bear in the Hindi-dubbed version of ‘Obsession’. The original film, directed by Curry Barker, follows Bear, a shy music store employee who wishes for his co-worker Nikki to love him more than anything in the world.
His wish comes true after he uses a mysterious toy called the One Wish Willow, but her affection soon becomes frightening and violent.
The horror film stars Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston in the lead roles. Made on a reported budget of $750,000, it has reportedly earned more than $522 million worldwide, turning the low-budget production into a major box-office success.
The uncut original version of ‘Obsession’, along with its Hindi-dubbed edition, is set to premiere on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar on 30 October at 7pm.
