Five teachers and two employees have been dismissed from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) over disciplinary breaches.
The decision was taken at the university’s 115th Syndicate meeting following investigations into the allegations. These included violations of university regulations, the use of falsified experience certificates to secure employment and discrepancies in age-related information during recruitment.
All seven had been temporarily suspended for a long period before their dismissal.
The dismissed teachers are Pintu Chandra Shill, of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE); Subrata Talapatra, of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM); Nibir Mondal, of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE); Masrura Mustafa, of the Department of Humanities and Business; and Shahriar Roman, of the Department of Humanities and Business.
The other two are Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry and Office Assistant Satyajit Kumar Dutta.
KUET Registrar Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan told the media that the university had sought explanations from the accused following investigations. While some submitted their explanations, others failed to do so.
He said the Syndicate meeting unanimously decided to dismiss all seven.
