Silva Pharmaceuticals reported a 22.4 per cent increase in its annual net loss to Tk16.27 crore for the year ended June 2026, as declining sales and rising operating expenses weighed on the drugmaker’s financial performance.

Despite the larger loss, the company’s board recommended a 0.10 per cent cash dividend for general shareholders, including the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, while excluding other sponsors and directors.

The company posted a net loss of Tk13.30 crore in the previous financial year, according to audited results approved at a board meeting on Wednesday.

Loss per share widened to Tk1.19 from Tk0.97 a year earlier.

Silva Pharmaceuticals attributed the deterioration primarily to lower sales volumes, which it linked to significant turnover among its field sales employees.

Disruptions in electricity supply, supply chain difficulties and broader global and macroeconomic instability also affected operations, the company said.

Higher operating expenses added to the pressure from declining revenue.

The losses eroded the company’s net asset value, which fell 7.7 per cent to Tk195.03 crore at the end of June from Tk211.30 crore a year earlier.

Net asset value per share declined to Tk14.29 from Tk15.48.

Operating cash flow, however, improved despite the larger loss. Net operating cash flow per share rose to Tk0.14 from Tk0.10, which the company attributed to better collection of receivables and reduced short-term payments to suppliers.

The proposed dividend will require a total payout of Tk10.23 lakh to eligible shareholders.

According to the disclosure, general shareholders, including the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, hold 10,23,01,500 shares, while sponsors and directors, excluding the institution, hold 3,41,98,500 shares.

The company’s 25th annual general meeting is scheduled for 29 December at 11:30am in a hybrid format. The record date has been set for 1 December.

Shareholders have been asked to update their beneficiary owner account details, including bank routing numbers and electronic taxpayer identification numbers, before the record date.
