The players’ transfer window for the upcoming Dhaka First Division Cricket League will be held on November 4 and 5 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with the competition scheduled to begin on November 15.
Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) chairman Moyeen Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the development to TIMES on Tuesday.
“The First Division will start on November 15. Before that, the players’ transfer will take place in Mirpur on November 4 and 5,” said the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director.
The First Division Cricket League will mark the start of Dhaka’s club cricket season, running until January 7, 2027. A total of 20 teams will compete in the tournament, with 124 one-day matches scheduled across six venues in and around Dhaka, including BKSP and PKSP.
The preliminary phase will be played in two groups, while the Super League and relegation phase will follow a single round-robin format.
The previous season was disrupted by a fallout between the Aminul Islam Bulbul-led BCB board and club officials. The competition was eventually cancelled after only one round had been completed. The CCDM is now overseeing preparations for the participating clubs ahead of the new season.
“We had a good discussion with the clubs, and there are no problems. We want the tournament to be organised properly, and we also took suggestions from them. I asked what they wanted, and we identified some areas where certain things could be streamlined,” Moyeen said.
He stressed that the interests of both clubs and players needed to be considered, saying the two depended on each other.
“We have to think about both the teams and the players. Without teams, players have no value, and without players, teams have no value. They depend on each other. We discussed everything at length, and it went well. Hopefully, we will not face a similar situation again,” he added.
