Kazi Rakib Hossain, former convener of the Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Students’ Union, has received a contractual appointment as assistant press secretary to the president. He was a student of the 46th batch of the Department of Law at the university.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

The notification, signed by Al-Bashirul Islam, senior assistant secretary of the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, said Kazi Hossain was contractually appointed assistant press secretary to the president on condition of relinquishing any workplace relationship with any other profession, business, or government, semi-government, or private institution or organisation.

The notification added that other conditions of this appointment will be determined by a contract, and that the order was issued in the public interest.

On 15 September 2022, after remaining dissolved for three months, a new 19-member convener committee of Students’ Union at Dhaka University was formed with Kazi Rakib Hossain as its convener.
