Bangladeshi singer Ronti Das has won the Best Melody Singer (Female) award at the Dhallywood Awards 2026 in the United States, adding another accolade to her musical career.

Renowned singer Rizia Parvin presented the award to Das at a ceremony held on Sunday.

Das rose to prominence in 2006 through CloseUp 1, a popular televised music competition in Bangladesh. Since then, she has built a diverse repertoire spanning modern, folk and film music while retaining her distinctive vocal style.

Based in New York, Das is also working to expand access to music education through her initiative, Ronti’s Music Kitchen.

Das has also lent her voice to several Bangladeshi films, including Shuvo Bibaho, Khoj: The Search, Kartutwo, The Speed, Ostro Proyog and Bostir Chhele Kotipoti.

Her popular songs include “Dekho Amar Khushite”, “Hello Brishti”, “Hridoy Jekhane”, “Rong”, “Uralia”, “Dakati”, “Bahar Bari”, “Ekela” and “Obhimani”.

Born in Chattogram, Das developed an interest in music during childhood, supported by a family environment that encouraged her passion for singing.

Her father, Subal Kanti Das, was a businessman, while her mother, Lucky Rani Das, worked for a multinational company.

Outside music, Das is a mother of two children, Arshi and Shahbaz. Her husband, Said Rahman, is a guitarist and singer with the band Nostalgia.

The Dhallywood Awards 2026 honour adds to Das’s achievements as she continues to pursue new musical projects.

She also hopes to reach a wider international audience and promote Bangladeshi music and culture beyond the country’s borders.
