Singer and lyricist Sumi Sharmin has brought together two generations of Bangladeshi music through two of her new songs, with popular singer Agun and emerging artiste Priyanka Biswas lending their voices to the tracks.
The songs were recorded at Bangladesh Betar on 6 October. Ruman Hayat composed both tracks.
For Sumi, having Agun sing one of her songs carries a special significance. She grew up listening to the singer and said hearing her own lyrics in his voice was an especially rewarding experience.
“Agun bhai is an artiste we deeply admired and loved during our adolescence. Many renowned singers have performed my lyrics before, but hearing one of my songs in his voice feels particularly special. His voice has given the lyrics another dimension,” Sumi said.
She also expressed her appreciation for Priyanka Biswas, describing her as a melodious singer whose voice adds another emotional layer to the songs.
Sumi hopes listeners will enjoy both tracks when they are broadcast.
Agun, meanwhile, said he was drawn to both the lyrics and the melodies. He also described Bangladesh Betar as a deeply emotional place for him.
“The lyrics really appealed to me, as did the melody. Bangladesh Betar is a place connected with our emotions. Whenever I come here to sing, so many memories come rushing back,” he said.
The two songs will be broadcast on Bangladesh Betar soon.
