Popular singer and composer Pritom Hasan and actress-model Shahtaj Monira Hashem have announced their divorce by mutual consent, bringing an end to nearly four years of marriage and a decade-long relationship.
The couple announced their decision through separate Facebook posts on Sunday night, 4 October.
In their statements, they said they had decided to part ways after spending 10 years together. They expressed gratitude for the memories they had shared and said they continued to care for each other.
However, they explained that time had made them realise that living separately would be better for both, given their differences in understanding.
After considerable thought and with the support of their families, they decided to end their marriage.
They also requested privacy and understanding from friends, colleagues and the media during this period.
Neither mentioned a specific reason for the separation.
Pritom and Shahtaj first met while shooting the music video for Jadukor, a song sung by Pritom.
Shahtaj appeared as the model in the video, and their professional association gradually developed into a romantic relationship.
Pritom had previously shared their love story with fans, revealing that they dated for around five years before marriage.
He also recalled proposing to Shahtaj in the presence of both her and her mother.
The couple married on 28 October 2022 at a five-star hotel in Sreemangal.
Pritom is known as a singer, composer, music director and actor, carrying forward a musical legacy from his family.
Shahtaj has established herself in modelling and acting.
Neither has made any further public statement following the announcement.
