Daffodil International School, Baburhat organised the first primary-level mathematics competition, Math Olympiad-2026, in Chandpur on Saturday.
Hasan Ali Model Govt Primary School emerged champion in the competition, which brought together students from 10 educational institutions from Chandpur Sadar and Matlab South upazilas, said a press release.
The winning team comprised Maher Jabin Omiya, Jobayer Islam Rakat, Obonish Jagri, Md Jabed Omar Abir and Faris Al Hasan.
Sholaghar Government Primary School secured the runner-up position with Md Abdul Mohaimin, Maruf Hasan and Jihad Gazi on its team.
Chhayera Khatun Adarsha Kindergarten finished third with Monika Rani, Umme Habiba Jahan Tuba, Abdur Rahman, Abdul Ahad and Ayesha Akter Riya.
Christian Mission School and Baburhat Government Primary School finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The one-hour competition began at 10:00am under the slogan ‘Conquer math with joy, not fear’, aiming to increase students’ interest in mathematics.
Md Salim Mia, acting principal of Daffodil Polytechnic Institute, Faisal Farayezi, vice-principal of Daffodil International College, Baburhat, Mahabubul Hossain, corporate officer of Daffodil Group, and Iqbal Hossain, assistant corporate officer, among others, were present.
