A total of 437 children of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) members have received the “DMP Scholarship-2025” under merit and higher education support programmes.

Of the recipients, 249 are secondary and higher secondary students while 188 are pursuing higher education.

DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad handed over the scholarship money to the students at a programme at Rajarbagh Police Auditorium on Saturday.

The commissioner said the scholarship was not merely financial assistance but also recognition of the students’ merit, hard work, perseverance, dreams and future potential.

“The achievements of DMP’s meritorious children are a matter of pride not only for their families but also for Dhaka Metropolitan Police,” he said.

Mosleh Uddin said DMP members worked day and night to ensure public safety, carrying out their duties in rain or sunshine, late at night and during festivals and holidays.

He said police personnel often had to remain at their workplaces even during important family occasions.

“The contribution of families is important in enabling police members to perform their duties. The success of their children is a major source of inspiration for their sacrifices,” he said.

Addressing the students, the DMP commissioner said the force valued their merit and hard work and urged them to take the recognition as inspiration for greater achievements in the future.

“They must build themselves in such a way that one day they can become an inspiration to others,” he said.

Mosleh Uddin said Bangladesh’s future leadership would emerge from among today’s meritorious students.

“Some will lead in important fields, some will create new knowledge, some will dedicate themselves to serving people and some will contribute to the country’s development,” he said.

The DMP commissioner congratulated the scholarship recipients and wished them a bright and successful future.

DMP Additional Police Commissioners Md Masud Karim, Md Shafiqul Islam, Md Abul Bashar Talukder, Mohammad Osman Gani and Mohammad Shamsul Haque, along with police officials of different ranks, family members and students, attended the programme.
