Farida Begum, mother of Rupayan Group Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, was laid to rest on Sunday at Banani Graveyard in Dhaka after she passed away on Saturday night at the age of 74.
Her funeral prayers were held at Gulshan Azad Mosque, said a press release.
Farida Begum suddenly fell ill at her residence at around 12:30am on Saturday night. She was taken to Continental Hospital in Gulshan, where doctors declared her dead.
Family members including her grandson Mahir Ali Khan Ratul, Co-Chairman of Rupayan Group and publisher of Desh Rupantor; her son Ali Akbar Khan Ratan, were present at the funeral.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat, Maasranga Television Managing Director Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, Desh Rupantor Editor Mustafiz Shafi and Kalbela Editor Santosh Sharma expressed condolences.
The death was also mourned by Dhaka Club Limited, Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), ATCO, and other organisations.
Among those who attended the funeral and offered condolences were Daily Agamir Somoy Editor Mostafa Mamun, REHAB Senior Vice President Abdur Razzaq, architect Rafiq Azam, US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Abdullah Al Mamun, actor Nader Chowdhury, and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Advocate Mohammad Tajul Islam.
Rupayan Group officials and employees, along with officials from various government institutions and people from all walks of life, also attended the funeral.
