Health authorities on Tuesday reported 1,324 new dengue cases and five deaths from the disease in the past 24 hours.
According to a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 121 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 139 in Chattogram division, 298 in Dhaka division, 138 in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 142 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
The statement said 246 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 87 in Mymensingh division, 114 in Rajshahi division, 34 in Rangpur division and five in Sylhet division during the period.
Since the beginning of this year’s dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has recorded 102 deaths, while 37,170 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease.
Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people across the country.
In 2024, the disease caused 575 deaths and affected 101,214 people, according to official figures.
