State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has stressed the need for integrated initiatives involving administration, law enforcement agencies, public representatives, and civil society to maintain law and order, curb drug abuse, and build a healthy society.
He was addressing a special meeting of the Dhaka District Law and Order Committee at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday, said a press release.
State Minister Tuku said drug abuse has become a major social crisis, with criminal activities rising alongside narcotics. He also called for strict enforcement, public awareness, and a strong social movement to combat drug abuse.
He also urged action against juvenile gangs, noting they expanded during the autocratic regime and left lasting negative impacts.
Families, schools, local administration, and society must work together to keep youth away from crime, he said.
He reminded public officials that citizen welfare and good governance are their prime duty, adding that public trust will grow if officials act with honesty and efficiency in line with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s “Bangladesh First” philosophy.
Emphasising environmental protection, he called for steps to prevent river pollution, manage industrial waste, and maintain ecological balance to build a livable Bangladesh for future generations.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam chaired the meeting, attended by senior police officials, local government representatives, and members of the district law and order committee.
