After a lengthy absence from cinema, actor Bapparaj is set to return to the big screen with filmmaker Mohammad Iqbal’s upcoming film Gulshaner Chameli.
Bapparaj last appeared in the 2018 film Poramon 2. He stayed away from acting for several years before returning last year with Mostofa Khan Shihan’s web series Roktowrin and Mehedi Hassan Hridoy’s film Biday. Neither project has been released yet.
Iqbal announced Gulshaner Chameli at a mahurat ceremony in early August. The film will mark Tollywood actress Madhumita Sarcar’s debut in Dhallywood. It will also bring actor Amin Khan back to the big screen after a break.
The cast includes Rozina, Omar Sani and Azmeri Haque Badhan, among others.
The filmmaker has yet to reveal details about Bapparaj’s character. Explaining his decision to cast the actor, Iqbal said Bapparaj suited the requirements of both the screenplay and the role.
“Bapparaj was selected based on the requirements of the screenplay and the character. We believe his experience and acting skills will further enrich the character. Bapparaj liked the story and the character. He has agreed to work on the film. We are also delighted to have an experienced actor like him on board,” Iqbal said.
Gulshaner Chameli will explore the darker realities behind elite society. Jahangir Shikdar is producing the film under the banner of Axel Film Production, while Abdullah Zahir Babu has written the screenplay.
Iqbal said filming is expected to begin in December if everything goes according to plan. The makers aim to release the film in cinemas during one of next year’s Eid festivals.
