Fantasy author Sarah J. Maas has revealed the titles of the sixth and seventh books in her bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series, giving fans their first look at the next chapters of the popular fantasy saga, reports Variety.
The sixth book, A Court of Splintered Harmony, will be released on October 27, while the seventh, A Court of Forgotten Melody, is scheduled for January 12, 2027. Both books will be published by Bloomsbury.
The announcement comes as Maas continues the story set in the faerie realm of Prythian, which has so far followed sisters Feyre, Nesta and Elain Archeron.
The A Court of Thorns and Roses series currently consists of five books: A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames.
The new instalments will expand the story beyond the events of the existing books, although details about their plots remain closely guarded.
Maas revealed the titles and covers through two consecutive Instagram posts, while digital billboards in Los Angeles, Denver and New York simultaneously unveiled the news.
The covers also reveal that the two books form part of a larger storyline titled The Valkyrie Cycle.
A Court of Splintered Harmony is labelled “Movement I”, while A Court of Forgotten Melody comprises “Movements II and III”.
Maas accompanied the first book with the line, “What was broken will be remade,” while the second carries the description, “What was lost will be reclaimed.”
Fans have also been waiting to see the fantasy series adapted for television.
Disney’s 20th Television and Hulu began developing an ACOTAR television series in 2021, with Ronald D. Moore attached as showrunner and Maas involved in the project.
However, the planned adaptation was scrapped in February 2025 following creative differences.
The rights subsequently reverted to Maas.
Beyond A Court of Thorns and Roses, Maas is also known for her Throne of Glass and Crescent City series.
Her books have sold more than 85 million copies in English combined and have been published in 40 languages.
With two more ACOTAR books now on the way, fans of the series have new additions to look forward to as the story of Prythian continues.
