Four more people died with suspected measles in the country in the 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the combined number of suspected and laboratory-confirmed measles-related deaths this year to 894, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest fatalities, two were reported in Sylhet division and one each in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
The number of suspected measles-related deaths since 15 March has now reached 795, while 99 deaths have been confirmed through laboratory tests, according to data released by the DGHS Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room.
During the same 24-hour period, 972 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, while 187 cases were confirmed through laboratory tests.
Another 886 patients were admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 850 patients recovered and were discharged, the DGHS said.
Since 15 March, the country has recorded 1,41,048 suspected measles cases and 17,730 laboratory-confirmed cases. A total of 1,22,794 patients have been hospitalised, with 1,18,540 recovering and returning home.
Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of suspected measles cases, with 61,982 cases, including 10,464 laboratory-confirmed cases.
Chattogram has reported 26,592 suspected cases, followed by Barishal with 15,366, Rajshahi with 9,348, Khulna with 9,272, Sylhet with 9,173, Mymensingh with 6,758 and Rangpur with 2,557.
Under the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Programme 2026, the government set a target of vaccinating 1, 80,15,064 children nationwide.
So far, 19,326,894 children have received the vaccine, taking coverage to 107.3 percent of the target.
Vaccination coverage has also surpassed the target in all 12 city corporation areas. Against a target of 1,905,950 children, 2,050,825 have been vaccinated, bringing coverage to 107.6 per cent.
