The incident occurred around 3:00 PM. Dani was critically injured when part of a wall caved in on him. He was immediately rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where attending doctors declared him dead.

According to his co-workers, Dani hailed from Nayanagar village in Itna upazila of Kishoreganj district and had been living in a rented house in Mirpur-10, Dhaka.

DU Associate Professor and Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed commented, “The deceased worker was employed under a contractor and was not a university staff member. His family has been notified. The body will be handed over to them after a post-mortem examination.”
