Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das completed a full training session on Wednesday without any discomfort, raising hopes of his return ahead of the opening Test against Australia.
The 30-year-old, who had been recovering from a left calf strain, took part in both batting and wicketkeeping drills as Bangladesh prepared for their three-day practice match against a Cricket Australia XI at DXC Arena in Darwin, starting on Thursday.
Chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon confirmed Litton came through the session unscathed but said a final decision on his participation in the practice match would be made on the morning of the game.
“Litton completed a full session today and looked comfortable throughout. He also took part in wicketkeeping drills. We will decide tomorrow morning whether he will play the practice match,” Bashar told Times of Bangladesh.
Litton suffered the calf injury during Bangladesh’s ODI series against Zimbabwe, which ruled him out of the subsequent T20I series and delayed his return to international action. After making encouraging progress in his rehabilitation, he was handed a late recall to Bangladesh’s squad for the two-match Test series against Australia.
