A 10-year-old schoolboy was killed after being crushed by a cement-laden truck in Kishoreganj town on Friday morning.
In a tragic turn of events, the police patrol team dispatched to the accident site included the victim’s father, who discovered his own son’s body upon arrival.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Tuhin, was a fourth-grade student at Gaital Janata School. He was the son of Shamsul Haque, a driver at the Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station. The accident occurred at approximately 10:30am on Friday in the Janata School Road area of Kishoreganj town.
Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Duty Officer Tania Naznin said the station received a phone call reporting a road accident involving a cement-laden truck. At the time of the report, the identity of the victim remained unknown. A patrol team, which included Shamsul Haque as the driver, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon reaching the location, the patrol members realised that the child killed in the accident was Tuhin, the son of their colleague, Shamsul Haque. According to reports, Tuhin had left his residence in the Gaital area on a bicycle for a ride when the truck ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot.
Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abul Kalam Bhuiyan confirmed that the boy’s body has been recovered and moved to the hospital morgue.
While the police seized the truck involved in the incident, the driver managed to flee the scene. Legal measures are currently being taken regarding the accident.
