Bangladesh’s national women’s kabaddi team made a dominant start to their five-match home series against Nepal, winning the opening fixture 34-24 at the National Kabaddi Stadium in Paltan, Dhaka on Friday.
Bangladesh went into the break leading 14-10 after an aggressive first half, then extended their advantage further after the interval to seal a comfortable victory and go 1-0 up in the series.
Captain Srabani Mallik was named player of the match for her standout performance throughout the contest.
The opening match drew notable attention off the court as well, with Zaima Rahman, daughter of the Prime Minister, attending the fixture. She met both squads before the game, watched from the VIP box, and at one point came down to join supporters in the stands to enjoy the atmosphere. After the final whistle, she took selfies with members of the Bangladesh squad.
The second match of the series is scheduled for Saturday.
