Metro rail services were disrupted Sunday morning when a cluster of gas balloons became entangled in a high‑voltage electric line near the Raju Sculpture adjacent to Dhaka University’s TSC.
Operations resumed about 10 minutes later after the balloons were removed, according to media reports.
The incident was reported around 6:45am, when the balloons drifted into the overhead wires, disrupting electricity transmission. A Motijheel‑bound train departing from Uttara North station was stranded on the line.
Md Masud Rana, wireless operator at the MRT Police control room, said removal work began immediately. By around 7am, the balloons were cleared and metro rail services resumed.
