Hamza Choudhury spent Friday afternoon in Mohammadpur, where the Leicester City midfielder became the center of attention at the Notun Kuri Sports programme.
Originally in Dhaka for promotional work, Hamza’s trip took on a wider sporting role as he joined State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque and Bangladesh Football Federation President Tabith Awal at the youth event.
A close source said Aminul Haque personally took the initiative to bring Hamza there so young participants could draw inspiration from one of Bangladesh’s biggest sporting names.
Hamza watched the young athletes in action and quickly became a major attraction. Teenagers gathered around him for photos, and the football star happily spent time with them while also sharing words of encouragement.
“Wonderful work is being done here. I hope many big stars will come through this. From Notun Kuri’s planning, I can see how many different sports are taking place in one competition in our country.”
His appearance gave a major boost to the Notun Kuri Sports programme, which aims to develop young talent across Bangladesh through organized competition in different sports.
Tabith Awal also praised the scale of the programme and highlighted the strong involvement of female athletes.
“Forty five thousand girls have registered for Notun Kuri. This is a huge milestone for Bangladesh. All athletes see Hamza Choudhury as a star. The inspiration given by State Minister Aminul Haque and Hamza today, not just at this ground but through the message that will spread across Bangladesh through you, will inspire many young boys and girls to stay involved in sports and build themselves through sports in the future.”
Tabith also shared an update on Bangladesh’s search for a new men’s national football team head coach, a topic that has been making headlines in Bangladesh in recent times.
“Interviews with 11 candidates are currently taking place online. They will continue tomorrow as well. The National Teams Management Committee is conducting the interviews. Once the interviews of all 11 are finalised, we will likely make the final coaching decision in the Executive Committee. The goal is to reach a final decision by Sunday and sign a contract with the next coach by May 15.”
For Hamza, the visit became more than a promotional stop. It turned into a powerful public moment, as one of Bangladesh’s biggest football stars stood directly in front of the country’s next generation and offered them belief.
