The government has appointed Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Dhaka.
The Ministry of Education announced the appointment in a notification issued on Thursday.
The order states that the appointment has been made under Article 13(1) of the Dhaka University Order, 1973, with the approval of the President, who also serves as Chancellor of the university.
According to the official notification, the tenure of his appointment will be four years from the date of joining. He will receive a salary equivalent to his current position along with other related benefits as per the rules.
Furthermore, he is required to reside permanently on the university campus and will exercise powers and perform duties as prescribed by the university’s statutes and laws, or as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor. The President and Chancellor reserve the right to cancel the appointment at any time.
Almujaddade Alfasane has an extensive academic and professional background at the institution, having completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Department of Botany at Dhaka University before joining the faculty. He later obtained his PhD from the same university.
In addition to his academic roles, he is a former Secretary of the Dhaka University Club and served as the convener of the Faculty of Biological Sciences for the ‘White Panel’, a group of BNP-Jamaat-backed teachers.
He is the current Joint Secretary General of the University Teachers Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) and a former Secretary General of the Nationalist Research Foundation.
Additionally, he serves as an advisor to the Ziaur Rahman Foundation.
