A 20-bed field hospital has been established at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to manage a measles outbreak.
Speaking on Monday afternoon, Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, Director of DMCH, stated that the facility was constructed under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army on behalf of the Directorate General of Health Services.
DMCH will be responsible for providing all necessary doctors, nurses, ward boys, and medical supplies.
The Director noted that the Army completed the construction on Sunday night. The facility is housed under tents to ensure there are no disruptions during storms or rain, and it is equipped with 20 beds and nine air conditioning units.
Currently, the DMCH Public Works Department is completing drainage work to prevent waterlogging and is finishing the installation of electrical connections. The admission and treatment of patients are expected to commence very shortly.
