Four people, including a teenage boy, were killed in three separate road accidents in Chapainawabganj, Cumilla, and Magura on Sunday morning.
In Chapainawabganj, Rabiul Islam Jisan, 27, and his brother-in-law Sohagh Hossain, 17, were killed when a truck hit their motorcycle in Nachole upazila around 5:45am in the Benipur area.
Officer-in-Charge of Nachole Police Station Sukomal Debnath said they were travelling from Nachole to Dhansura when the truck collided with them.
They were taken to Nachole Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead. Police seized the truck and handed over the bodies to their families.
In Cumilla, eight-year-old Md Khalid Hossain died after falling from his father’s motorcycle and being run over by a covered van on the Cumilla–Sylhet regional highway in Debidwar upazila around 10am.
The incident took place near Azgar Ali Girls’ High School. Khalid, son of Moazzem Hossain Swapon, was returning home from Babus Salam Hafizia Madrasah when he fell onto the road after the motorcycle jerked, and a speeding covered van ran over him.
Officer-in-Charge of Debidwar Police Station Mohammad Moniruzzaman confirmed the incident and said efforts are underway to identify and seize the vehicle.
Police are preparing to file an unnatural death case in this connection.
1 killed in truck–bus collision in Magura
A man in his was killed when a bus collided with a truck on the Magura–Dhaka highway in Magura Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Kuddus, 75, a resident of Gopinathpur village in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Ashiqur Rahman said the bus-truck collision took place in front of the Primary Teachers Training Institute around 8am, causing both vehicles to lose control.
At that time, Kuddus, who was standing by the road, was hit by the truck, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to Magura 250-bed Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
