The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Monday granted permission to interrogate two individuals, including Supreme Court’s former Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, in connection with a case involving crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.
The court also authorised the interrogation of AKM Jamal Uddin, a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Dhaka.
Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim conducted the hearing on behalf of the prosecution at the tribunal.
During the proceedings, he sought permission to question Justice Manik and Professor Jamal for one day each at a convenient time within the next 15 days. Following the hearing, the court granted the application.
Both Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Jamal Uddin are currently arrested and remains in jail.
