Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that he is in “excellent physical condition” after his annual medical report revealed that he had a malignant tumor removed.
The 76-year-old leader shared the news in a post on X on Friday, clarifying that the tumor was detected during routine medical checks following surgery for an enlarged benign prostate, reports BBC.
Netanyahu explained that while monitoring his health after the successful prostate surgery in 2024, doctors discovered a small malignant tumor at an early stage.
“The treatment has removed the problem and left no trace,” he said, reassuring the public of his well-being.
The prime minister also revealed that he had requested the delay of the publication of his health report to avoid any distractions or misinformation during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
He expressed concerns that the timing of the release could be exploited by Tehran to spread “even more false propaganda” against Israel.
According to Netanyahu, the tumor, measuring less than a centimeter, was identified in a recent routine check-up. He described the issue as “a minor medical issue” that has been “completely treated.” “Thank God, it’s behind me,” Netanyahu added.
In his message, Netanyahu emphasised the importance of addressing potential health concerns promptly. “When I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately,” he stated. “This is true on both the national level and the personal level.”
The revelation comes as Netanyahu prepares for a visit to the White House in the coming weeks, where discussions are expected to focus on a long-term peace agreement regarding the ongoing war with Iran. Additionally, Israel’s ceasefire with Lebanon, following clashes with Hezbollah, has been extended for another three weeks.
Netanyahu’s announcement comes amid growing international attention on Israel’s security situation, with the Prime Minister’s health update providing some relief regarding his personal condition.
