Miscreants allegedly set fire to two shops, destroying them at Tengrakandi Bazar in Phulchari, Gaibandha.
Phulchari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Durul Hoda confirmed the matter on Friday. Affected businessmen alleged that the arson attack was carried out due to past enmity, resulting in losses of around Tk20 lakh.
Locals reported that miscreants set fire to Obaidul’s pharmacy, and the flames quickly spread to the adjacent Kashem’s variety store. Before they could reach the scene, the contents of both the pharmacy and the variety store were reduced to ashes.
Obaidul, one of the affected shop owners, said medicine worth Tk15 lakh in his shop was burnt to ashes.
OC Durul said legal action will be taken if a complaint is lodged.
