A maintenance activity on the SEA-ME-WE-5 (SMW5) submarine cable may slow down internet services or cause partial disruption, Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) said in a press release.
The consortium of the country’s second submarine cable system at Kuakata has undertaken a programme titled ‘S.1.5.1 Shunt Fault Repair’, scheduled to run from 10:00pm on 9 April to 6:00am on 13 April, Bangladesh time.
During the period, the activity will be traffic affecting, meaning circuits routed towards Singapore through the cable will be temporarily impacted, potentially leading to slower internet speeds or partial service disruption for users.
Services will continue through the SEA-ME-WE-4 submarine cable during the maintenance period, ensuring connectivity remains available, BSCPLC said.
In coordination with the consortium, efforts will be made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe so that normal services can be restored quickly, the company said.
