Bangladesh Krishi Bank opened its Saharbati Bazar Sub-Branch under the Gangni Branch of Meherpur Region on Monday.
The sub-branch was inaugurated by Bangladesh Krishi Bank Deputy Managing Director Mohd Khaleduzzaman, who attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest, the state-owned bank said in a press release.
In his speech, Khaleduzzaman emphasized the bank’s crucial role in developing agriculture and the rural economy. He said the new sub-branch would provide local farmers, small entrepreneurs, and general customers easier access to banking services and help boost economic activities in the region.
The ceremony was attended by Anwar Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Gangni, and Utpal Kabiraj, General Manager of the Kushtia Division of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, as special guests.
Prahlad Kumar Hor, Regional Manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Meherpur Region, presided over the event.
On the first day of operations, the sub-branch collected Tk70 lakh in deposits and disbursed Tk22 lakh in agricultural loans.
A colorful rally followed the inauguration, marching through Saharbati Bazar and nearby roads, with participation from bank officials, local businesspeople, and residents.
