Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan has directed executive engineers to physically inspect all ongoing development works to ensure their quality.
During an exchange meeting with contractors held at Nagar Bhaban on Monday afternoon, he emphasised the need to ensure the progress, quality, and dynamism of the corporation’s projects.
The administrator instructed executive engineers to be present in their respective areas to verify the qualitative standards of the work personally. He further stated that if any substandard work is detected, it must be identified immediately, and the work must be re-executed properly.
Highlighting the vision for the city, Shafiqul noted that there must be an effective understanding between the DNCC and the contractors. “We do not want to work by excluding anyone. We want to build a beautiful, modern, and livable city by taking everyone along,” he said.
He also remarked that the DNCC must remain ahead of other city corporations in the country and maintained that there would be no discrimination against anyone regarding the work.
Shafiqul issued a firm warning to all contractors, stating that all tasks must be completed within the stipulated schedule. He added that necessary action would be taken against any firm that fails to complete its work on time.
According to information provided at the meeting, there are currently 348 development projects ongoing under the DNCC. These projects involve the development of 215.65 kilometres of roads, 215.13 kilometres of drains, and 67.59 kilometres of footpaths.
During the session, various contractors highlighted several existing problems they face during the implementation of projects and sought assistance from the DNCC in resolving these issues.
The meeting was attended by DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Sayed Rakibul Hasan, along with other senior officials of the corporation.
