The first trailer for ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, the new TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved series, has shattered records with more than 277 million organic views within 48 hours, making it the most-watched trailer in HBO and HBO Max history.
The series, part of the Warner Bros. franchise, will follow Rowling’s original seven novels, with the first season adapting ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’. The trailer shows Harry meeting future friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, attending classes like Herbology and playing Quidditch for Gryffindor.
Key cast members include Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Nick Frost as Hagrid, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy. Francesca Gardiner, known for Succession, serves as showrunner, while Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones) directs several episodes.
