A 13-year-old schoolboy was killed and his friend injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred around 8:30pm. The deceased has been identified as Naeem, son of Sajirul Islam of Jayrampur Nutanpara village in Damurhuda, a ninth-grade student of Jayrampur Secondary School. His friend Rafid, 16, sustained injuries in the crash.
Damurhuda police Officer-in-Charge Mejbah Uddin confirmed the incident.
According to police and witnesses, Naeem and Rafid were riding a motorcycle when they lost control near Jayrampur Nutanpara and collided with a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction. Both were seriously injured and were taken to the local hospital by residents.
Naeem later died at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital around 10:30pm while undergoing treatment.
The boy’s father, Sajirul Islam, said the accident occurred while his son and his friend were out riding the motorcycle at night.
