The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced that from June 30, all importers and exporters will be required to submit their Certificates, Licenses, and Permits (CLP) exclusively through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) platform for customs clearance.

In a press release issued Thursday, the NBR stated that more than 3.65 lakh CLPs have already been processed automatically through the BSW system, reflecting its growing efficiency. Of these, 85.76% were issued within an hour, and 94.68% within a day, demonstrating the platform’s speed and effectiveness.

The directive applies to 19 government agencies responsible for issuing CLPs, all of which are now integrated into the BSW platform. From now on, these agencies will handle all related documentation exclusively through the digital system.

To use the BSW platform, businesses must register with their Business Identification Number (BIN). Once registered, importers and exporters can apply online for all necessary CLPs in a streamlined, paperless manner.

“All procedures related to import-export documentation will now be completed online, simultaneously and transparently, by the respective authorities using a unified platform,” the NBR said.

The revenue authority also highlighted the benefits of the system, noting that eliminating the need for face-to-face interaction will ensure greater transparency, reduced processing time, and lower transaction costs.

According to the NBR, this digital transformation is expected to boost confidence among local and international businesses, thereby fostering greater trade and investment opportunities.

Officials believe that full implementation of BSW will mark a significant step toward modernizing Bangladesh’s trade facilitation infrastructure, aligning it with global best practices.
