Bangladesh batter Sobhana Mostary has won the International Cricket Council Women’s Player of the Month award for January 2026. She earned the honor after leading her team to the Women’s T20 World Cup.
Mostary played a big role in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. She showed strong form with the bat and stayed calm under pressure. Her runs helped Bangladesh stay unbeaten in the tournament.
She was in the final list with Gaby Lewis of Ireland and Tara Norris of the United States. Both players also had good months, but Mostary stood out with her steady and attacking batting.
During the Global Qualifier, Mostary scored 229 runs in her first six matches. She had an average of 45.80 and a strike rate of 145.85. She scored runs in key moments and gave her team strong starts in many games. Her shots all around the ground put bowlers under pressure.
Bangladesh sealed their place in the main event with a 39 run win over Thailand. In that match, Mostary scored 59 runs, which was her best score of the tournament. She guided the innings and made sure her team reached a strong total. She won the Player of the Match award for that performance.
She did not stop there. In the next match against Scotland, she scored another fine 47. Once again, she helped her team build a solid total. Her form gave confidence to the whole batting unit.
Bangladesh will now take part in the Women’s T20 World Cup in June and July. The team will look to Mostary to continue her strong form on the big stage. Her recent performances show that she is ready for the challenge.
