Pirojpur’s Under-17 district side crowned themselves zonal champions on Saturday by beating Jhalokathi 3-0 at Pirojpur District Stadium in the regional final of the Under-17 National Championship 2025.
The final drew senior administrators and local officials, with Israt Jahan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Pirojpur, attending as chief guest alongside representatives from the Bangladesh Football Federation and district sports bodies.
Both teams started on the front foot and traded attacks, but Pirojpur controlled territory better and forced Jhalokathi into a deeper defensive shape that limited space between the lines.
Pirojpur missed a golden chance from the spot after the break, yet the miss sharpened their focus rather than rattled them. They pressed higher, moved the ball quicker, and stretched Jhalokathi’s defence wide.
That pressure finally cracked the game open as Mohaimin Islam drove into the box and finished with authority. The goal lifted the crowd and tilted momentum firmly towards the hosts.
From there, Pirojpur played with confidence and clarity. Nihad Sheikh supplied the creativity, while Mehedi Hasan Rana punished gaps with sharp movement and ruthless finishing.
Rana struck twice to kill the contest, turning a tense final into a controlled procession. His work off the ball also set the tone, forcing turnovers and keeping Jhalokathi pinned back.
Jhalokathi tried to respond with sporadic breaks but lacked the final pass and composure in front of goal. Pirojpur’s defence stayed compact and dealt calmly with everything thrown at them.
The numbers backed the eye test. Pirojpur won more corners, earned more free-kicks, and hit the target more often, reflecting a performance built on control rather than chaos.
Mehedi Hasan earned the match award for his two goals and consistent influence. Pirojpur finished the zonal campaign deserved champions, decisive when it mattered most.
