The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) states that the southwest monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal, in a weather report published Tuesday morning.
The Met office predicts light to moderate rain with temporary gusts and thunderstorms in many parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, as well as some areas of Rangpur, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions and a few places in Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holiday.
Sylhet division is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
Moreover, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and may rise further; where Satkhira recorded the highest temperature in the country at 37.2°C in the past 24 hours.
Rain is expected to persist for the entire week, although with decreasing intensity.
Swathes of people travelling out of Dhaka may face disruptions due to rain, conditions are likely to improve gradually.
