Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan announced on Satuday that gas supply to ready-made garment (RMG) factories will increase starting that day, following the arrival of four new LNG (liquefied natural gas) cargoes.
“Gas distribution has already begun, and from today, there will be no shortage,” he assured while speaking to journalists after inspecting a power plant in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Ashulia, Savar, reports BSS.
The adviser, who also oversees the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, emphasised that the additional LNG shipments would help stabilise supply to industries, particularly the RMG sector, which had been grappling with production disruptions due to gas shortages.
Before visiting the DEPZ power plant, Fouzul inspected the Palli Bidyut Samity Dhaka-1 office in Ashulia. Senior officials from the Bangladesh Army and the rural electrification board were present during his visit.
